Go Vols… no, not the Tennessee Volunteers football team, but the Charlottesville Volunteers!

Volunteering has always been a big part of my life and who I am. It’s something that I’ve always loved doing and wished I had more time to give.

I recently volunteered a portrait session to help raise funds for Darden’s Building Goodness in April. BGiA is started in 1991 and is organized by the students at Darden School of Business.  A couple weekends ago, hundreds of volunteers gathered to help renovate 10 homes and build 2 playgrounds for low-income elderly and disable residents within the Albemarle community.  More can be read about their success here: BGiA

I’ve volunteered my portrait services before for various causes and I feel it’s time for me to volunteer my wedding services. Each year I would like to award a fellow volunteer with a complementary wedding package as a way to say thank you for your heart of service.

To be considered for this award:

  • Your wedding must take place in Charlottesville, VA
  • You need to be volunteering at the time of candidacy
  • You are asked to submit an essay describing your volunteer work and your passion behind it.

Submissions are also opened to those that wish to nominate a deserving volunteer.  Guidelines remain the same.

I’ve gathered a group of volunteers who I have worked with on projects in the past to be my committee.  They will read all essays and vote on the best candidate for the complimentary wedding.

Submission deadline is at midnight on May 31, 2009
VolunteerforPhotography@gmail.com

Committee’s decision is final
Award is non transferable

Complimentary wedding package consists of:
8 hrs of wedding day coverage
Wedding consultation
Digital enhancements
3 month online gallery for viewing and ordering
