Lisa and Ben win the prize for best engagement session location: Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. It was about a 2 and a half hour drive for me and Ryan (we took country roads) but it was the best road trip Ryan and I have been on since we moved to Charlottesville. There were a number of fantastic little towns that we passed through on our way to Harpers Ferry. Several of these towns had hole in the wall joints that Ryan and I want to visit in the future, especially the town of Sperryville.
This is the first engagement session that I’ve done where I took a narrated tour bus to our destination. Once we hopped off the bus, there were immediately several great spots for shooting. I was like a kid in a candy store, except instead of being excited about the candy I was excited about the rocks, the old buildings, and the train tracks. I had a blast walking around town with Ben and Lisa. They are such a fantastic couple who kept me laughing. Plus Ben makes an excellent tour guide… afterall, he has a PhD in History.
Enjoy the below shots.

Lisa and Ben – Ryan and I had a great time with you Sunday. Thanks again for picking a fabulous spot and for coordinating the fabulous weather!
P.S: We pulled over for the highly recommended kettle corn… it’s so worth making a trip up there another weekend just for more. The $4 bag wasn’t nearly enough! Are you guys sure you don’t want to get married near the kettle corn stand???
