After the Halong Bay cruise Ryan and I spent one more night in Hanoi exploring the town. We had the chance to sample Vietnamese street cuisine and do a bit of bargaining. One thing is for sure about Hanoi… sidewalks are actually not used for walking. Instead they are prime real estate for a family’s shop, concession stand, or restaurant. If you want to walk around Hanoi, you walk in the road with the motor bikes and cars. That evening while walking around we ran into a few of our cruise mates and ended up joining them for bia hoi. There were eight of us sitting around drinking for over two hours and the bill came to 167,000 dong ($8.85) I’m surprised with that price tag there aren’t more college aged kids hanging around town.
Below are a couple images from in and around Hanoi. Also, please enjoy the image of Ryan and the piegon head! We ordered pigeon while dining on the street one night and it was delicious. Tasted just like peking duck only more delicate.
