Magnetic Island, Australia…

I’m back tracking a bit and talking about the trip to Magnetic Island we took a week or two ago. I got so excited to post about our Great Barrier Reef experience I neglected this part of our trip.

Magnetic Island happened on a whim really. Ryan and I were heading towards Townsville, when I saw a sign for a Ferry to Magnetic Island. We sorta had talked about going, but it wasn’t until I pulled up to the ferry port in our Jucy van that we determined we should go. The timing was too perfect not to go. Literally as I parked the car, the ferry arrived for the next trip out. We hopped on and made a day of it out on the island. Two of my favorite things we did was The Forts Walk and Rock Wallabies. The Forts Walk was a perfect combination for me and Ryan – he spent his time reading all about WWII while I searched for Koalas on the trail. Arcadia Bay has a ton of Rock Wallabies. The Wallabies are so used to people that they’ll come out of the rocks and hang around you for a while.

Below are a couple photos from Magnetic Island, as well as some random shots from traveling around in our Jucy. One thing that Australia has going for it is all the amazing free BBQ’s. Ryan and I have certainly taken advantage of this and have cooked up a few great burgers – get ready to drool.
