Since the weather was so nice, we spent the majority of our time photographing at The Rotunda on The University of Virginia’s Campus. I love that area. My favorite part of The Rotunda are the columns that line the lawn. It makes for such a beautiful backdrop. Emily and Jay decided to do a First Look before their ceremony. First Looks are great and allow for more time with portraits. Plus, it gives the couple a private moment to really enjoy each other and think about the ceremony to come. I loved Jay’s expression as he turned to see Emily approaching him from the stairs. He just couldn’t stop starring at her and all the little details of her gown. It was very sweet to watch.

Emily and Jay exchanged vows at the University Chapel right there by the Rotunda. It was a beautiful evening wedding with close friends and family. Following the ceremony, guests headed to Farmington Country Club for an evening of toasts, dancing and celebration. Just before midnight Emily and Jay got on stage and helped count down to the New Year. It was a wonderful day full of love and joy!

Happy New Year!

The reception took place at The Marietta Country Club, which is a gorgeous place. I feel like many of the houses around the area could pass as the club house – they certainly are big enough! The wedding party arrived by trolley,  followed by an announcement of the newly married couple. This reception kept me on my toes. It was a large space and filled to the brim with so many guests. The dance floor never was empty either. Allison and her girlfriends were the first to break out the dancing but it wasn’t long after them that others started to join. My favorite dance was the mother son dance. You can tell by the image below just how tender of a moment this was. Below are a combination of images from both myself and Aaron Yung, who second shot with me on this event.

Casey and Josh are such an amazing couple. They light up a room when they walk in and Casey’s laugh is infectious. It has been fun working with them and they’ve always made me feel like part of the family.

Casey and Josh decided to get married at Ash Lawn Highland in Charlottesville, Virgina. Ash Lawn is nestled between two hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and was home to President James Monroe. The couple exchanged vows on the last weekend of October and boy was the foliage breath taking. Rolling hills of gold, red and green surrounded guests as they cuddled up in blankets and each others arms to watch Casey and Josh say “I do”.  It didn’t matter how cold it was outside – it warmed my heart to hear Casey and Josh announced as husband and wife.

After Jenn and Rob exchanged vows, the wedding moved just down the road to a private club.  The club views were of rolling hills and large trees which made for a stunning backdrop. During the cocktail hour guests mingled outside on an intimate patio enjoying the view and wonderful appetizers such as the Raw Bar. When nightfall came, I loved watching guests as they strolled into the tent with mouths dropped and eyes glued to the ceiling. Everyone was in awe of the transformation. Luminous Designs did a fabulous job with the custom lighting  as well as Andrew Pascoe with all the florals and Hank Lane and Rhythm Nights kept everyone dancing. When you walked into the room it really was as if you were dinning and dancing in a field filled with farm tables and candles. Jenn and Rob brought Autumn indoors and it was gorgeous – if you don’t believe me, see for yourself below, hehe!

Aaron and Ashley had a lakeside wedding in Cleveland, TN. It’s a quaint place that has great significance to them. Theses two have creativity pouring out of them! It wasn’t any surprise to see how hands on they were with organizing and decorating their wedding. Little touches like the ribbon and buttons on the ceremony programs, the bouquets the bridesmaids created and the paper circles that Ashley cut out and hung on string helped tie in this beautiful wedding! Something really cool that they did at the end of the night was have all the guests join them out by the water to release their wish lanterns. I’ve never seen these done in person so it was really cool to witness. Aaron and Ashley lit their lanterns, made a wish and we all watched as they floated into the dark sky.

Both Aaron and Ashley put in so much effort, thought and love to building their perfect wedding day – I can only imagine what the rest of their married life will be like! I love you guys lots and wish you nothing but the best!!!
